Mongmaw retires
ITANAGAR, Apr 30: CM Mongmaw, Director of Accounts and Treasuries has retired on superannuation today.
Mongmaw joined Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries as the 5th Director in 2000 and served the department for 13 years in that capacity to became the longest serving director.
Mongmaw was first appointed as Accounts Officer in the first batch of Arunachal Pradesh State Finance & Accounts Service in 1984. Thereafter, he served the government in different places of the state as Accounts Officer (now Finance & Accounts Officer) in the ADC office, Changlang from July 5, 1984 to April 30, 1987; Accounts Officer (now Finance & Accounts Officer) in the DC’s office, Tezu from May 1, 1987 to August 31, 1990; Treasury Officer, Itanagar from September 6, 1990 to July 31, 1991; Chief Accounts Officer (now Senior FAO) in the Office of the Chief Engineer, PWD, Zone II from August 1, 1991 to February 19, 1993, Joint Director of Accounts and Treasuries in the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries from February 20, 1993 to June 12, 2000 before finally becoming the Director of Accounts and Treasuries on June 13, 2000.

ITANAGAR, Apr 30: The article titled “Flood Hazard Assessment and Management of Digaru River and its Catchment Areas in Arunachal Pradesh” by Rinkiolu Chai, a Ph.D Research Scholar in the Department of Geography of Rajiv Gandhi University has won her the ‘Best Poster Presenter’ in the Indian Geophysical Union’s Golden Jubilee Workshop on the theme “Holistic Scientific Approach using Integrated Geophysical Studies for the Management of Natural Hazards” held at NESAC (North Eastern Space Applications Centre), Umiam, Shillong from April 22 to 23.

ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Reacting at reported involvement of lot of money in current Panchayat and Municipal elections, All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU) today appealed to the political parties to refrain from using money in poll campaign. In a release AAPWU claimed that many poor workers are being lured by candidates in their favour by offering money. Further it urged the home department to provide sufficient vehicles for paramilitary force for patrolling in all sectors.

SEPPA, Apr 13: 20 Girls students from KGBV, Bameng located in remote area of East Kameng toured Itanagar and Guwahati as an exposure tour from April 19 to 28. AAPSU demands construction of greenfield airport at Karsingsa
ITANAGAR, Apr 30: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today demanded that the proposed Itanagar greenfield airport be constructed at Karsingsa instead of Hollongi, saying setting up the airport at Hollongi would entail rehabilitation of Chakma and Hajong refugees.

The AAPSU, which is spearheading the movement against refugees for the last few decades, says, it cannot allow their rehabilitation by the state government, “other than deportation as they are foreigners,” Lapung said, adding, “We can’t facilitate their rehabilitation in our land where even Indians require permit to visit.”

Forum demands ouster of PCC president
ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Claiming that Koloriang poll violence was due to two tickets issued by the Congress party for one segment which resulted in death of one Bengia Tamang during scrutiny of nomination papers, the Koloriang People’s Forum (KPF) today demanded for the immediate removal of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President from the post on moral ground.
In a letter addressed to INC president Sonia Gandhi, the Forum said that PCC is responsible for the entire episode, adding that the party has induced to fight within party by issuing double party tickets in a single segment. It also claimed that lack of supervision and lack of clear cut working guidelines of the Party is main reason behind the entire row. Further KPF demanded immediate compensation for late Tamang’s family.
The Forum also threatened to organize public rally if the party higher authority does not take action against those responsible for Koloriang episode at the earliest.

Petrol price cut by Rs 3 per litre, steepest reduction in 5 years
New Delhi, Apr 30: Petrol price was Tuesday slashed by Rs 3 per litre, the steepest reduction in rates in over five years.
The fourth reduction in rates since March means that petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 63.09 a litre with effect from midnight tonight as against Rs 66.09 per litre currently.
Rates will vary from city to city depending on local sales tax or VAT.
In Mumbai, petrol price has been cut by Rs 3.15 to Rs 69.73 per litre, while the fuel in Kolkata will cost Rs 70.35 from Wednesday as against Rs 73.48 per litre. The reduction in rates in Chennai would be Rs 3.18 per litre to Rs 65.90.
Tuesday's price cut comes after three consecutive rate reductions on the back of
falling international oil prices. State-
On March 16, the rates were cut by Rs 2.40 per litre and by Re 1 in the following fortnight.
The price cut announced Tuesday is the steepest since December 2008 when rates were slashed by Rs 5 to Rs 45.62 per litre. Announcing the reduction, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the nation's largest fuel retailer, said that since the last price change, international prices have declined from USD 116.61 per barrel to USD 107 a barrel.

Besides enabling reduction in petrol prices, the falling international oil rates have meant that the losses on diesel sales too fall to Rs 3.80 per litre from Rs 6.48 on April 16.
Oil firms have not raised diesel prices this month apparently due to Assembly elections in Karnataka, the home state of Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily. They are due on May 5.

Hand over Daco post to APPSC
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the Govt, and the Secretary Art & Culture Govt, of Arunachal Pradesh for not including the (6) six post of District Art & Culture Officer (DACO) in the recently advertised APPSC Exam. Though, the post of DACO was remaining vacant after the six illegally appointed were terminated four years back as per the ruling of honorable high court order and many a times the department was appealed to either handover the vacant post to APPSC for recruitment or fill up through promotion as per recruitment rule but very surprisingly nothing sort of any steps were being initiated by the secretary till date.
Now question arises how and on what ground the department did not hand over the vacant
post to the APPSC for recruitment? Their delaying tactics is clearly stand exposed

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the fact about TGT syllabus rate made by department of School Education. I am confused with Directorate of School Education whether they are planning to make money or retaliating for attack on an officer or taking advantage of candidate’s need and necessary? I mean to tell about 3 (three) page syllabus of trained graduate Teacher cost Rupees 150 (one hundred fifty) whereas it will charge Rs.9 (nine) only in market i.e. Rs.3 per page for Xerox/Photostat. Here I would like to ask concern authority whether this money be adjusted to departmental fund or in staff’s pocket. It is unfortunate to know that officer and staff is attacked and warned from frustrated people or sometime for individual need and profit too. But high cost of three pages of syllabus is also a sufficient provoking element for poor candidates. Hence, I request to the higher authority to kindly refund the amount after deducting in genuine rate.

Citizen should feel secured
Dear editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to put forward my thoughts in front of the citizens of our state on the issue of security and rising crime rate of capital complex.
Being Indian we all have our rights, but these days the so called rights are being suppressed due to lack of security of our people in every field and every aspect.
Our authorities seem busy maintaining traffic rule rather than giving security to the people. Many teenagers are everyday fined for not wearing helmet but will the murderers, thieves, rapist be punished someday?
Each day we come across new news of murder, rape, robbery and assaults on people. We don’t want our people to live in their own land with fear. Freedom is what we got 66 years ago but we are still yet not free from all the sick activities of some sick people who are not meant to live among us but to be put behind the bar.
But for some people, crime like robbery is the only way to live their life and to fill the stomach. Govt should create enough job opportunity for the people and am sure if govt bring down unemployment rate soon crime will go down rapidly. Our govt must be realy careful in all of these aspects. An appeal is made in a hope of an action, which our people expect.
